Environmental Assessment work begins at Harding Carpets site
King and Benton committed to keeping the community and City informed of progress

Brantford, ON, December 15, 2003 – King & Benton Developments has started preliminary soil sampling to update existing environmental assessments and gather new information about the condition of the Harding Carpets site. The soil samples are being collected from bore holes drilled at locations throughout the site. The drilling and environmental assessment is being conducted by Environmental Management Group Ltd.

“King and Benton is committed to keeping the local community and the City and the Ministry of Environment informed of our progress on this important project,” says King & Benton President Steve Charest. “We will be providing residents in the immediate area with updates through our Community Advisory Committee and reporting directly to the Mayor’s office, the MOE and the Brownfield Committee.”

Previous studies have concluded that the Harding site is in “relatively benign” condition compared to other brownfield sites, but King & Benton is proceeding with this new study to ensure the existing data is still valid and that no new contaminants exist.
