Agreement signals new era of partnerships for New Credit First Nation and private industry
Hagersville, ON, July 13– Mississaugas of The New Credit First Nation is declaring the New Credit Industrial Park “open for business” as it welcomes its newest private sector tenant, Omega Organics Inc., scheduled to set up phase 1 of its operations in a 20,000 square foot building on August 8, 2004, producing 30-40,000 tonnes of finished product. In phase 2, Omega Organics Inc. will expand to produce 100,000 tonnes of finished product.
The establishment of the 59 - acre New Credit Industrial Park is the result of 10-12 years of long-term planning by the Mississaugas of The New Credit First Nation. The goal is to provide new opportunities for long-term revenue and employment for the First Nation Community.
Mississaugas of The New Credit First Nation, Chief Bryan LaForme says the agreement signals a new era of doing business with private industries that will help New Credit First Nation achieve its goal of economic self-sufficiency and independence. “We are delighted with the prospects of a long-term relationship with Omega Organics Inc., and the employment opportunities it will provide to members of our growing community,” says Chief LaForme.
Omega Organics Inc. will produce compost/soil amendment products at the New Credit facility and will bring 4 new jobs immediately to the community and up to 20 in the next 15 months.

The agreement was facilitated by the First Nations Business Development division of King and Benton, a Brantford-based development company with extensive operations in Brant County.

The New Credit Industrial Park is centrally located on Highway No. 6 at Hagersville, Ontario, providing access to the US border crossing at Buffalo, approximately one hour away. Detroit and Port Huron are also readily accessible via Highways 402, 403 and Highway 401, which provides a rapid link to highways serving the rest of Canada.
